Lucy and Austin’s garden wedding on 35mm film and digital

Back in the summer I photographed Lucy and Austin’s beautiful garden wedding on both digital and analogue.

Lucy & Austin first contacted me a couple of years before their wedding as they were off to New Zealand for a year and wanted to get everything for their wedding organised in advance. The wedding was in their family garden, a perfect location for a relaxed wedding without any restrictions, allowing them to have exactly the wedding they wanted.

My coverage started with Lucy getting ready before the ceremony that took place in one of the two marquees erected in the garden. After the ceremony there was a drinks reception in the garden followed by dinner and speeches.

Hybrid digital and film photography

Using both film and digital gives the best of both types of photography and many of my couples who opt for film also have digital photography. On this wedding I was using Kodak Gold 200 and Kentmere 400 black and white, a change from my usual Kodak Portra and Ilford HP5. I used my Leica M4-P for the film photography and my Fujifilm X-Pro3 for the digital photography.  I find these two cameras work really well together and I can also use my Leica lenses on the X-Pro3.

The film images below all have borders around them to make it easier to see what was shot on film and digital.
