Love, Timelessly Captured: Why wedding couples over 40 deserve extraordinary photography!
There’s something beautifully profound about finding love over 40. It’s not rushed. It’s not for show. It’s real, grounded, and deeply meaningful. As a wedding photographer (in this age group) who’s had the honour of capturing hundreds of love stories, I find weddings later in life especially moving — and incredibly photogenic.
If you’re planning your wedding and you’re in your 40s, 50s, 60s or beyond, know this: your story deserves to be told with authenticity, elegance, and heart. Here’s why your celebration deserves a photographer who truly understands the beauty of this chapter.
Your Story Is Rich — Your Wedding Photographs Should Reflect That
By the time you’ve reached this point, you’ve lived. You’ve learned what matters most. The way you look at each other, laugh together, and hold hands speaks volumes. You don’t need staged moments — you need someone who can see and capture the real connection between you.
That’s my job: to reflect your journey, your joy, and your genuine love in every image.
My approach is documentary, a professional wedding guest capturing what your wedding feels like.
It’s Not About Trends — It’s About Truth
Weddings over 40 tend to have a different energy. There’s less stress about the “perfect” Instagram moment and more focus on intimacy, intention, and creating a meaningful experience. I have never been one to follow the latest trends as I prefer timeless storytelling photography.
You Know What You Want — So Let’s Make It Happen
One of the best things about working with mature couples? You know what you love and also what you don’t love, be it a simple wedding with just the two of you in Venice (I was the witness too on this wedding) or a lavish party for all your family and friends at a beautiful London hotel.
No pressure. No awkward poses. Just genuine, comfortable, beautiful photography.
Beauty Isn’t Age-Dependent — It’s Soul-Deep
You might hear that weddings are for the young — I disagree. There is nothing more beautiful than love that’s stood the test of time (or found its way unexpectedly). I work with light, angles, and natural moments to bring out the absolute best in you — not to make you look younger, but to make you feel seen. I was recently reading a blog post on marketing for wedding suppliers and it stated the most important thing was to aim for couples aged 25 to 40, it was as if couples over 40 do not get married! The vast majority of weddings I photograph are for couples between 35 and 65.
You’re Celebrating More Than a Wedding — You’re Celebrating Life
A wedding in your 40s, 50s or beyond is more than a ceremony. It’s a celebration of everything you’ve been through and everyone who’s helped you get here. It might include children, friends who’ve become family, and quiet tributes to those who are no longer with you. Capturing all of that matters. It’s not just about two people. It’s about the life you’ve built — and the one you’re starting, together. You need a more mature photographer to understand this rather than a photographer looking for their next cool instagram shot. I deeply care about capturing the sort of photographs that appeal to my clients and that matters.
Final Thoughts on wedding photography for the over 40s:
Love has no expiration date. Whether it’s your first wedding or your second, your photos should honour the depth of your story and the uniqueness of your celebration.
If you’re planning a wedding and want a photographer who values experience, emotion, and the little in-between moments that truly matter — I’d be delighted to capture your day.
Let’s connect over coffee (or Zoom!), and create something timeless — just like your love.
