Back in October 2017 I was Joanna and Roger’s Northamptonshire wedding photographer for the very last wedding ever in the Great Hall at Rushton Hall. I also photographed one of the very first weddings here several years ago, all future weddings here will be in the brand new purpose built Orangery which looks gorgeous.
I’ve photographed many Rushton Hall weddings over the years and always enjoy coming back, it’s also right on my doorstep here in Northamptonshire.
I first met Joanna and Roger last November over a cup of coffee at Rushton Hall when they told me of their wedding plans, I knew then it would be a fun day and I wasn’t disappointed, both had great expressions all day long which makes my job as a documentary wedding photographer easier.
Both Joanna and Roger got ready at Rushton Hall which meant I could catch up with them both for photographs before the ceremony, it always makes me smile that brides spend all morning on hair and makeup while the groom gets ready in five minutes flat. Roger was ready impressively early and went to greet the guests arriving in the library bar. Joanna got ready in the room directly above the ceremony and then walked down the beautiful spiral staircase. There was a funny moment in the ceremony when the registrar made a mistake with their names, much to the amusement of Joanna and Roger.
A drinks reception followed in the courtyard before the toast master Alan Hodge announced the arrival of Mr and Mrs Clarke into dinner. Speeches, cutting of two cakes (a sweet cake and a cheese cake) and dancing followed.
So that was it, the end of an era and the start of a new one. The last ever wedding in the Great Hall at Rushton Hall. I’m very much looking forward to photographing weddings in Rushton Hall Orangery next year.
