Every day I post an image of the day on twitter (@wedding_PJ)  and on the Simon Atkins Photography Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/simonatkinsweddings ), please follow me on these to see my latest news and offers as well as my image of the day. Once a week I will post a roundup of the images used in the previous week along with a few notes about the photographs.

Image of the day 29th March 2015.  The kiss.

wedding photography henleyThis is an image from a wedding at Henley on Thames, the couple had just got married in St Mary’s church on the opposite side of the river and were about to board a boat for the journey to Temple Island. The wedding guests had already boarded the boat, I waited with the couple and caught this moment between them which was hidden from the guests.

Image of the day 28th March 2015. A father’s hug.
a father hugs his daughter after her weddingAfter the wedding ceremony I like to stand back and capture all the emotions as family and friends come and congratulate the couple. This is the brides father hugging his daughter.

Image of the day 27th March 2015. The wedding ceremony.
wedding ceremonyThe wedding ceremony s one of my favourite parts of the day and I’m always looking out for the little glances the couple give each other. This was a wedding from Hengrave Hall which has a beautiful church in its grounds. I was given permission to photograph from the front of the church which allowed me to capture images like this. The couple leaned in together making an unforgettable image.

Image of the day 26th March 2015.  The brides entrance.
the brides entranceThis is from a winter wedding at Eastnor Castle. I wanted to capture the beautiful light on the staircase and show how dark it was for this December wedding. After taking this photograph I had to run down the staircase to catch the groom’s reactions, he was waiting at the bottom of the staircase for the bride.

Image of the day 25th March 2015. The veil.
the brides veil

The bride had just had her veil fitted and the flower girl came running into the room to see. Black and white strips distracting elements from this photograph. I enjoy photographing the preparations for the wedding and find it is also a time to get to know everyone and for them to get used to being photographed.

Image of the day 24th March 2015. Wet weather.
groom arrives for weddingI’m often asked what happens if it rains on the wedding day, the answer is simply I carry on as normal and get great images. I love this photograph of the groom arriving by boat on a wet and windy day, his umbrella blowing inside out as he stepped out of the boat. The reception venue is on the island in the background (It’s Temple Island, Henley on Thames). The fence and the boat provide leading lines into the image, adding to the composition.

Image of the day 23rd March 2015. The brides make up.
bride has her makeup applied before the weddingThe bride having her make up applied. I love the light on this image which came from a large open door. It’s a very simple image that works well, I haven’t tried to do anything fancy here, the photograph is made by the lighting.
