FAQ

I see a lot of black and white images on your website, can you tell me how much of the photography would be in black and white?

I love black and white photography but weddings are usually colourful events, normally I would present you with about 60 to 70 percent of your photographs in colour and 30 to 40 percent in black and white. This will vary from wedding to wedding and depend on the weather. If you have a preference one way or the other please let me know as I can work totally in colour or totally in black and white.

What is the style of your photography?

I work in a natural unposed style,  I photograph what is in front if me rather than setting it up. The photographs tell the story of your day.

What areas do you cover and is travel included in your prices?

I photograph weddings anywhere!  I travel all over the UK on a regular basis for weddings, I have also photographed weddings in Ireland, France, Venice and Menorca.  Travel is included for most UK venues although I do have a minimum spend for Cornwall and Scotland as both require two or three days of my time. If you are getting married further afield I would ask for you to cover the cost of my flights and accommodation as well as any other travel costs.

Are you a qualified and insured photographer?

Many photographers are self taught, there is nothing wrong with this but I do have a formal training in photography. I have the NCTJ in photojournalism, this is a newspaper industry qualification achieved after extensive photographic training.  There currently isn’t a standard formal qualification for wedding photography. All of my training for photojournalism comes into play for my documentary style of wedding photography.   I have public liability insurance which is required by some venues.

Will you take some family group photographs and portraits of us?

Absolutely. I’m happy to take 6 or 7  family groups and these are done quickly and without fuss. I also take the couple off for ten minutes so we can get some relaxed portraits.

Do you set any photographs up on the day?

Other than the family groups and a few portraits I photograph real events from the day as they happen. For example when you come to cut the cake I will not position you and tell you to smile, instead I capture what happens in a documentary style. The end result are photographs that show so much more of the day.

How long will it take until we can view our photographs?

I will have your photographs ready to view in a private online gallery around three weeks after your wedding.  Coffee table wedding albums are ready around 6 to 8 weeks after you order them.

What is the booking process?

Firstly please get in contact with me to make sure your date is available. A booking retainer of £350 secures the date and I have a booking form with the terms and conditions for you to sign.
