I was back to one of my favourite parts of the country this week to photograph Helen and Darren’s wedding at St Mawes Castle in Cornwall.  The drive down was long and very wet and 7 hours later I arrived at St Mawes to find it was still raining with a forecast for more rain to come.  It just goes to prove that the weather forecast isn’t always accurate as the clouds vanished over the horizon and the sun came out in St Mawes, in fact I ended up with sunburn.  So the sun came out, the sea was blue and the scenery gorgeous as I arrived at the Hotel Tresanton to photograph the preparations before running up the hill to St Mawes Castle and then back down again to photograph Helen walking through St Mawes and then running back up the hill for a second time wishing I was slightly fitter.

After the ceremony guests made their way to a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea and Helen and Darren took a few minutes together on the beach before we all headed to Hotel Tresanton for the wedding breakfast.

Weddings at St Mawes Castle

St Mawes Castle is one of Henry VIII’s coastal fortresses, located one side of the Fal estuary. Built between 1539 and 1545 along with Pendennis Castle which is the other side of the estuary. St Mawes Castle is managed by English Heritage. Wedding ceremonies can take place in three different rooms, wedding receptions can be inside the castle or in a marquee overlooking the sea. Please get in contact if you’d like to see more St Mawes Castle wedding photography, I’ve photographed a few weddings here and at Pendennis Castle.
